1. What genre of music does Clea May write and perform?
‘I would say my music is best described as modern trip-hop. I take influences from so many genres that i’ve always struggled to find a label. Once I created my EP, I started listening to artists like Massive Attack as people likened me to them, and I’d say my sound has a similar feel.’

2. Where does Clea May find inspiration for her songs?
‘Honestly, sometimes I don’t even know where my music comes from. It just pours out of me. But I definitely feel drawn to write when i’ve experienced dense things that I need to process. It can be anything from a romantic relationship to things I am witnessing on a wider scale.’

3. Does Clea May write all her own songs?
‘Yes — for my EP Hummingbird I wrote and produced everything myself, before collaborating for the final mix and masters. I am always up for working with other creatives when opportunities arise.’

4. When did Clea May start making music?
‘I started writing songs at the age of 10 and very quickly used it as a way to express myself. I think I was quite unhappy as a child and I definitely leaned on music when I was struggling. Over the years my sound has adapted and grown with me.’

‘Yes — I am working on new material set for release soon. I am so excited for it to be out in the world. You can stay updated on release dates, behind-the-scene moments, and upcoming shows by following my on social media.’

6. Where can I listen to Clea May's music?
‘My music will be available on the 11/11 on all streaming platforms apart from Spotify. I have made this decision due to my ethics and morals around Spotify’s investments and treatment of artists through their sly contract agreements.’
